Caya after Labor (Day)

Caya after Labor (Day)

Let’s go back nine months…

Remember the Sex and the Holidays blog and I started off asking what is the most common birthday? And do you remember when the answer was September 16th… yeah, so if you didn’t use your Caya during the holidays then this blog is for you! 😊

Boy, Girl, and Décor!

Maybe you are still blaming the alcohol, the antibiotic you were on, or stress you were under, but here you are about to deliver your bundle of joy! The past nine months you have been consumed with everything baby, from the gender, baby shower, and nursery décor, your life now revolves around that baby. Just because the baby is here, you still need to think and take care of yourself, mentally, physically, and sexually.

Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby.

Ha, yeah right.

Okay, so sex is the furthest thing from your mind but it’s going to happen again.

When you are due to go back to your provider for your 6-8 week follow up appointment after delivery, your provider is going to talk to you about birth control. This is why the Caya diaphragm is a great option for you if:

  1. You are breastfeeding
  2. You are in between pregnancies

While hormonal birth control options are not considered harmful to your baby, they may affect your milk supply if you are breastfeeding. Birth control methods that contain estrogen have been linked to low milk supply. The Caya diaphragm is a hormone-free option of birth control, you insert before sex and leave it in 6 hours after sex to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.

Or maybe you are on the fence on how soon you want to add a new little one to the mix? The Caya is a great option for couples who are between pregnancies. You can use Caya only when you are having sex so there is no need for appointments for IUD removal once you are ready to start trying again.

**Breastfeeding, Hormones, and Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM)—Say whaaat?

Basically, that is a big fancy word for you don’t have a period while you are breastfeeding. A lot of women assume that this means you can’t get pregnant while breastfeeding, which is true to an extent. However, you can say “yes” to all these statements then LAM is effective:

  1. You ONLY breastfeed your baby (No other food, formula, etc.)
  2. You breastfeed your baby at least every 4 hours during the day and 6 hours at night.
  3. Your baby is less than 6 months old
  4. You have started your period

But, you don’t really want to play with fire and have an accidental pregnancy, and therefore Caya is a great method of birth control!

Now that your little one is here, be sure to still take care of yourself. A happy and healthy mama is very important for your baby! Be sure to talk to your provider at your follow up appointment to get a prescription for Caya! If you have any questions, call one of our representatives today!
