HOW CAYA® WORKS

NATURAL, SAFE, HORMONE-FREE

The Caya® contoured diaphragm is a new female contraceptive barrier device made of silicone that is easy-to-use and hormone-free. Caya®  acts as a mechanical barrier that prevents sperm from entering the uterus.

HOW TO GET THE CAYA®

The Caya requires a prescription from your healthcare provider.  It is available in one size and fits most women.  A pelvic exam or traditional diaphragm fitting is not required for Caya use, yet having your provider determine your size or test fit a Caya will confirm that the Caya will work for you.

Step 1:  Obtain a prescription from your healthcare provider.  They may call, fax or e-script the prescription directly to the pharmacy; or they will provide you with a written prescription.

Step 2: Once you have your prescription, there are three (3) options to get it filled:  Mail Order Pharmacies – put the buttons/info below that; Commercial Pharmacy – put the button below with the letter; Your Provider May Dispense the Caya – but the button below with the letter.  Pharmacies that have access to Caya include:  Publix, Walmart, Winn Dixie, Costco, Rite Aid, Target, Albertsons and many independent pharmacies.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Caya should always be used with a water-based contraceptive gel such as Gynol II vaginal contraceptive gel.
  • Caya diaphragms and some silicone-based lubricants are not compatible and therefore should not be used together. Use ONLY water-based lubricants.
  • Caya is contraindicated if the patient was previously sized for conventional diaphragms from 50mm-60mm and 85mm-90mm.

ONE SIZE FITS MOST

  • One size fits MOST – Caya fits about 80% of all women.
  • For those who use or have been fitted for conventional diaphragms, Caya works for patient sizes 65mm to 80mm.
  • While a pelvic exam or traditional fitting is not a requirement for Caya use, if your size is unknown you should consider having your provider determine your size or “test fit” Caya to confirm that Caya will work for you.

FAQ

  • How safe is the Caya® diaphragm?

No contraceptive method can guarantee 100% safety from unwanted pregnancy. The Caya® diaphragm is as safe as the classic diaphragm. The more often you use the Caya® diaphragm, the more confident you will become in using this contraceptive method and the more safety this method will offer you.

  • How do I know that Caya® is inserted correctly and fits?

Use your longest finger (usually the middle finger) to verify the correct position of the diaphragm, check whether the cup covers cervix and the removal dome located securely behind your pubic bone. If this is the case you are well protected.

  • For how long can I use the Caya® diaphragm?

After the first use, the Caya® diaphragm should not be used for a period longer than 2 years.

  • Why does the Caya® diaphragm have to remain in the vagina for 6 hours after intercourse?

Sperm cells are no longer active after this period. These 6 hours are for your own safety and to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
